I agree, two questions overlapped.

Mmmmm - there were, in my opinion, two acceptable answers for some of the definitions.

Lisa Grindall, they are actually opposite in that while I gripe about something, if I am told off about it by someone else then they are chiding me. Chide is closest in meaning to scold.
